What is The Heart of Hollywood Foundation?

Not what… but who. We are a team of volunteers dedicated to raising funds to serve and support the homeless in our local community and beyond.

Our current initiatives:

  • Feeding and clothing the hungry in Hollywood and its neighboring communities
  • Partnering with transitional housing facilities to help the homeless find shelter and to overcome poverty
  • Working with local housing agencies to build homes for those in need
  • Providing aid to those in the U.S. who have either lost or been driven from their home by natural disasters
  • Partnering with agencies in 3rd world countries to help rebuild poverty stricken communities that have been impacted by natural disaster.

We are recognized by the State of California and the IRS as a not for profit 501 (c) 3 organization.  Contributions may be considered tax-deductible in accordance with state and federal law.

Funded Community Programs
Hollywood & Los Angeles County

Feeding the homeless Distribution of nearly 200 lunches every week in Hollywood area. Clothing and hygiene products are also provided when available.  To date, we have fed nearly 30,000 homeless adults and youth and given out more than 100,000 personal hygiene items.

5p21 Los Angeles County USC Medical Center HIV/AIDS clinic, known as 5p21 and one of the largest of its kind in the nation.  Each month volunteers prepare and distribute lunches to adults and children waiting for treatment.

PATH (People Assisting the Homeless) Volunteers cook and serve over 600 dinners annually to formerly homeless residents living now in transitional housing.

Habitat for Humanity Our volunteers work within the local community to build home for those in need.

Our Leadership

Our management team and board of directors is the governing body of the Heart of Hollywood Foundation (H.H.F.). The board and its committees set policies relating to governance, spending, management, professional standards and grant making. The board and our team is 100% volunteer based. Patrick Murray
Patrick MurrayExecutive Director
As the Founder and Executive Director of the Heart of Hollywood Foundation, Patrick Murray is the driving force behind all we do. Patrick sets the vision and strategy for the Foundation. He is a results-driven executive leader who works closely with administration and oversees programs, Grants and the Foundation annual calendar. He is also responsible for appointing Nominating Committee as well as other necessary committees. Murray has more than 25+ years of executive product and project client management experience in the industries of Higher Education, Manufacturing, HealthCare, Public Sector, Commercial and Financial Services.
Eric Chapman
Eric ChapmanVice President
Eric Chapman joined the foundation board in 2010. Our Foundation Vice President works closely with the Communications & Foundation Council to assure information is effectively communicated to our donors. The V.P. also facilitates annual satisfaction & needs assessment survey, oversees all communication vehicles and establishes our communication message. This person works with board members to effectively publicize events and Foundation activities.
Mark Stephenson
Mark StephensonTreasurer
Mark Stephenson joined the board in 2010. In addition to overseeing finance and accounting duties with the foundation, Stephenson is the business administrator at Hollywood United Methodist Church. His areas of expertise include strategic planning, performance management and cost management. Stephenson also assists several other nonprofits in the Los Angeles area.

Stephenson holds a Masters of Education and Bachelors in Business Administration as well as Communications from Austin College, Sherman, Texas.

Mary Kiser
Mary KiserSecretary
Mary Kiser joined the board in 2011. Her devotion to providing necessities to the homeless and helping men, women and children find permanent homes is what drew her to The Heart of Hollywood Foundation. Mary has almost 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry, is an author and avid inventor. She traveled to Haiti in 2013 and 2014 to help rebuild structures and lives affected by the devastating 2010 earthquake; has worked on numerous Habitat for Humanity houses; and volunteers with several organizations to feed and clothe the homeless people living in the streets and shelters in Los Angeles.
Michael Kelley
Michael KelleyDirector of Global Outreach
Joining the management team in 2011, Kelley is responsible for overseeing International Global Outreach operations. Michael is trained and certified in Disaster Response. He has worked in the field of Information Technology for 20 years. He also serves as the volunteer Disaster Response Coordinator for Hollywood United Methodist Church. Kelley has organized projects and led teams to Haiti since the devastating earthquake of January 2010. He is currently spear-heading initiatives for expanding humanitarian relief operations into the Philippines in response to Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda).
